Addiction Counseling

Addiction Counseling can be appropriate for individuals of all ages, including adolescents and adults. Therapy sessions are used for assessing the addiction, educating the patient about the addiction, and agreeing on goals for the patient. Then, the therapist and patient, sometimes in consultation with a primary care physician, will agree on a treatment plan.

During Addiction Counseling, we often discover that there are co-existing disorders. These issues may be affecting the overall functioning of the person dealing with the addiction. We can identify and analyze those issues as well, and then devise strategies to treat them.

Everyone is different. In turn, the type and duration of treatments depend on the individual and whatever it is that he or she is addicted to. If our assessment of the patient and the problem indicates that the addiction is severe enough to warrant additional outside support, we will make those recommendations and offer appropriate referrals.
